Netflix: Blockbusters, Sequels, and Finales
As the streaming OG, Netflix continues to dominate with a summer lineup that’s heavy on both nostalgia and big-budget originals. Among the most exciting new on Netflix releases are:
- The Old Guard 2 – the Charlize Theron-led sequel bringing back the action with high stakes. The sequel will premiere on Netflix right before Independence Day on July 2nd.
- Happy Gilmore 2 – yes, it’s real. The Adam Sandler comedy classic returns, and fans are very ready. Happy Gilmore 2 will be new on Netflix and ready to stream come July 25th, 2025.
- Forever – a modern romance rooted in Judy Blume’s world, reimagined for a new generation. It’s already streaming to rave reviews!
What else is new on Netflix? Fans of beloved shows like Squid Game and Black Mirror are saying goodbye as the final seasons premiere this summer. In November 2025, the final season of Stranger Things will premiere in multiple episode drops over the course of a month. The final episode will stream on New Year’s Eve.
Hulu & Disney+: Originals, Star Wars, & Marvel
Whether you're in it for the comedies, Marvel comic adaptations, or family-friendly content, all Disney+ and Hulu plans have something for you. This summer's highlights include:
- The Bear (Season 4) – the critically acclaimed kitchen dramedy returns with more intensity. 10 new episodes are streaming now!
- Ironheart – the highly-anticipated Marvel series following Riri Williams premieres exclusively on Disney+. The first three episodes dropped on June 24th with the other half of the season debuting on July 1st.
- Andor (Season 2) – the full second season of this Star Wars prequel series is already streaming on Disney+.
- Adults – this new comedy series explores how a group of 20-something friends handle relationships, careers, and burnout. If you’re a fan of FX’s Atlanta, this show is for you. Episodes are streaming next-day on Hulu.
Peacock: Budget-Friendly Binging and Reality TV
Peacock has quietly become one of the most affordable ways to stream a surprising amount of content. If you’re wondering, is Peacock free?—the answer is, kind of.
There’s a free tier, but most new releases require a paid subscription. If you’re watching your wallet but still want access to movies, reality TV, and sports, the Peacock app is worth a look. Some summer standouts on the Peacock app include:
- Love Island USA (Season 7) – this summer tradition is packed with drama, romance, and summer sun. If you haven’t given any of the Love Island franchises your attention yet, we highly recommend giving it a try. It’s currently the most-watched reality series in the US!
- The Continental – a John Wick spinoff that’s drawing action fans in.
- Twisted Metal (Season 2) – campy, chaotic, and very binge-worthy. Based on a PlayStation classic, gamers will enjoy the second season of this high-action series.
Max/HBO: Prestige Drama and Big Returns
Whether you call it Max or HBO, there’s no denying this streaming app has quality content. HBO shows are once again owning the drama space this summer. Here are a few of our top picks:
- The Gilded Age (Season 3) – a lush, high-society drama that’s visually stunning and emotionally rich.
- The Pitt – a gripping new medical drama set in a failing U.S. hospital. With a cast of impressive newcomers and a few acting veterans, this show is already sparking Emmy buzz.
- My Mom Jayne – Mariska Hargitay’s intimate, gut wrenching documentary about the death of her mother, actress Jayne Mansfield.
Prime Video: YA Book Adaptations
With Prime Video subscriptions often bundled into your Amazon Prime account, it’s a platform many already have but forget to explore. Prime Video subscriptions bring variety to the table—from romantic dramas to high-stakes action. This summer’s key titles include:
- The Summer I Turned Pretty (Season 3) – Based on the YA series by Jenny Han, the show returns with more heartbreak, beach vibes, and nostalgia.
- We Were Liars – another adaptation of a popular YA book. This psychological thriller is topping the streaming charts with a shocking season finale twist.
Apple TV+: Quiet Hits with Big Stars
Known for high production values and slow-burn drama, Apple TV+ has built a niche for itself. If you like tightly written, high-concept shows, Apple TV+ consistently delivers quality over quantity. Here’s what we’re loving so far this summer:
- The Buccaneers (Season 2) – this Gilded Age drama returns with a season surrounding forbidden love, power, and secrets.
- Echo Valley – a mystery-thriller starring Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney.
- Stick – a new sports dramedy in the spirit of Ted Lasso. Owen Wilson stars as a retired golf pro looking to mentor the next big thing.
